India has been taken by surprise by a statement from the US Navy. The US Navy has announced that it has studied India's special economic zone without prior approval. For this, the United States argued for the rule of freedom of movement at sea.
India is investigating whether any such study has been conducted following the announcement by the US Navy. According to an official, there is no problem if this is a normal hour. We have no objection to normal transport but the issue will be raised if this is an operational exercise without permission.
The United States issued an official statement on April 7, 2021. According to him, the USS John Paul Jones patrolled 130 nautical miles west of Lakshadweep, exercising his right to freedom of transport at sea. According to the statement, no prior approval was sought from India for the patrol. According to the US Navy, India is talking about seeking prior approval for military exercises in its special economic zone or continental shelf, which is against international law.
