Private hospitals will get Kovishield at Rs 600, for state governments at Rs. A dose of 400

The Serum Institute of India, a maker of covishield vaccines, on Wednesday announced its new price list for state governments and private hospitals. According to the new price list, private hospitals will get Rs. 600 for each dose and Rs. The vaccine will be given at 400 doses per dose.

The Government of India has recently announced a new phase of vaccination. At this stage, state governments and private hospitals will be able to purchase vaccines directly from vaccine manufacturers. So far only the central government was buying the vaccine and distributing it to different states.

According to the central government's announcement, 50 per cent of the vaccine will still be available to the central government while the remaining 50 per cent will be available to state governments directly from vaccine manufacturers. At the same time, the private sector has also been given such exemptions.

Their vaccines are much cheaper than foreign vaccines, according to claims made by the Serum Institute. The US vaccine is priced at Rs 1,500 per dose. The Russian vaccine is priced at Rs 750 per dose while the Chinese vaccine is also priced at Rs 750 per dose.

Over the next two months, the Serum Institute will provide vaccines to the Central and State Governments on a large scale. After 4-5 months, the production of the vaccine will increase and it will be allowed in the retail market.

Until now, the Government of India used to get the vaccine from the Serum Institute at the rate of Rs. 200 per dose. It was being provided free of cost in government hospitals by the central government. While for private centers the price was fixed at Rs 250 per dose.
