In the midst of another wave of corona, scientists at IIT Mandi in Himachal Pradesh have developed a fabric for PPE kits and masks that will be able to destroy the corona virus. A mask made of this type of fabric will be ready at Rs 30 while the price of a special cloth of the kit will be Rs 2.5 to 3 per square cm.

A kit made of this fabric can be used as frequently as a normal garment. Keeping it in the sun will enable this material to clean itself. This fabric does not reduce the ability to breathe. Researchers at the IIT Mandi School of Basic Sciences have made this huge discovery. According to research, PPE kits and masks made from this fabric will retain their excellent antibacterial ability even after washing 60 times.

The fabric contains a nanometer shaped sheet of molybdenum sulfide, MOS2. Its sharp edges and corners kill it by piercing bacteria and viral membranes like chappa. Excellent antibacterial ability was observed even after washing up to 60 times in nanonife modified fabric. Disposal of PPE kits and masks carries the risk of spreading the infection carelessly but this fabric reduces such risk. This fabric can only be kept in the hot sun so it can be cleaned and reusable.
