Lalu Yadav, who was released from jail after 3 years, was granted bail by the High Court 12 days ago

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has been released from jail after a long battle and court-martial. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been released from jail 12 days after he was granted bail by the High Court. Lalu Yadav has been serving his jail term since March 19, 2018 in the Dumka Treasury case in Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand High Court had on April 17 granted bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav in the case. But the bail bonds could not be filled because the lawyers could not work. Lalu Yadav's lawyer on Thursday filed two personal bonds following an order from the Bar Council of India. The court found him fit and sent him to the jail officer of Birsa Munda Central Jail Hotwar. He also ordered the release of Lalu Yadav. Lalu Yadav was sentenced to 7 years in prison by CBI special judge Shivpal Singh's court.

Bail on completion of half sentence

Lalu Yadav had filed a bail application in the Dumka Treasury case claiming that he had completed half of his sentence. However, the CBI had claimed that half of Lalu Yadav's sentence had not yet been completed
