Govt warns Twitter-Facebook to remove misleading posts on internet media

The central government has directed various internet media outlets, including Facebook and Twitter, which have been spreading misleading information about the Koro epidemic, to remove such posts. According to Twitter, it has taken action at the request of the Government of India and such account holders have been notified. However, Twitter did not provide the affected information of the affected accounts. It was learned that such posts contained misleading information and were designed to create fear among the people.

A Twitter spokesperson said: "When a reasonable legal request is made, our team reviews the post in accordance with both Twitter's rules and local laws." Content that violates Twitter's rules is removed. If the content is illegal in a special jurisdiction but not against the rules of Twitter, they prevent the content from appearing only in India.

More than 50 post deleted pages

According to the Lumen database, Twitter has removed more than 50 posts in deference to the Indian government's insistence. It also includes tweets from a Member of Parliament, MLA and filmmakers. According to Twitter, it had informed all account holders before taking action so that they would know that the move was taken at the behest of the Government of India.
