For the first time since Malabar, quad countries are conducting war games in the Bay of Bengal under the leadership of France. The Indian Navy is taking part in a French naval exercise in the eastern Indian Ocean from April 5 to 7, along with the United States, Australia, India and Japan.

The exercise is named La Perez after an 18th-century French naval officer. This exercise is considered very important in the midst of increasing Chinese aggression in the Indian Ocean region. China is also keeping a close eye on this whole development.

INS Kiltan is taking part in the multilateral maritime exercise La Paras for the first time with the Indian Navy ship INS Satpura (with an Integrah helicopter) and P8I long range maritime patrol aircraft. The Indian Navy's ships and aircraft are part of a three-day naval exercise involving ships and aircraft from the French Navy (FN), the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and the US Navy (USN).

The Quad is a group of countries like India, USA, Australia and Japan. It aims to protect the interests of democracies in the Indo-Pacific region and to address global challenges.
