Consider selling foreign corona vaccine in open market, government will not impose customs duty

New delhi date. 20 April 2021, Tuesday

Amidst the outcry of corona in the country, the central government has started approving foreign vaccines to speed up the vaccination campaign and at the same time has taken another important decision.

The government has waived customs duty on foreign vaccines imported into India. Thus, there was a 10 per cent customs duty on this vaccine but the government has decided not to take this duty so that foreign vaccines can be made available to the people cheaply.

At the same time, the government is considering allowing private companies to import vaccines from abroad. If the proposal is approved, adequate doses of the vaccine will be available in the country's market.

The government has previously approved the Russian vaccine Sputnik. The vaccine may arrive in India very soon. Apart from this, Pfizer, Mordana and Johnson & Johnson vaccines may also hit the Indian market soon. The government may also allow private companies to import vaccines, an official said on condition of anonymity. This will also make it possible to sell the vaccine in the open market. In which there will be no government interference. Companies will be allowed to set the price of the vaccine.

The government currently controls the purchase and sale of corona vaccine in the country. The government may remove this control very soon. However, no statement has been issued by the finance ministry on the matter so far.
