Bengal election: Negligence of the system goes too far, protests erupt in Korona ward

Kolkata, Ta. 22 April 2021, Thursday

While elections in West Bengal have become a matter of concern amid the growing transition to corona, the system in Raiganj district here has gone to extremes of negligence.

As the sixth phase of polling is taking place today, everyone is shocked to see a polling booth set up in the Kovid ward of a medical college in Raingaj. Locals living nearby were informed that a polling station has been set up in Kovid ward here. He opposed the decision and accused the system of negligence.

Demonstrators say turning Kovid Ward into a polling booth puts coroners at risk of transitioning. We will not allow anyone to vote here. Because this space is not safe. "We don't even know if the ward has been sanitized before the polling booth was set up," said one protester.

"We will not go inside," the protesters said. We also have family responsibilities. The government on the one hand is giving a speech to implement the Corona guideline and on the other hand the Corona ward is being turned into a voting booth. A second booth is set up for voters.

Protesters also blocked the road as part of the protest. The booth was then sanitized.
