Violent fire in Pune's Fashion Street, 448 shops burnt to ashes, loss of crores


- Hope the state government will help shopkeepers after the fire disaster

A fire broke out in Fashion Street at Camp Area in Pune, Maharashtra on Friday night. The blaze engulfed about 448 shops, both large and small. Chief Fire Tender Officer Prashant Ranapase said a call was received at 9:30 pm that a fire had broken out in Fashion Street. Two fire department vehicles were then dispatched to the scene but the fire was so fierce that nothing was done.

The fire was then brought under control by 16 vehicles of the fire department, 50 firefighters and 10 officers. The fire in Pune's Fashion Street was so fierce that it could be seen from any corner of the city. Due to the fire, all the goods in the market have been completely burnt to ashes.

"Since it is a weekend sale on Friday, shopkeepers keep bringing goods to their shops," said a shopkeeper. It is possible to estimate the amount of damage caused by the arrival of up to 3 lakh goods at the end of the week. Everything from clothes to electronics are available on Fashion Street at very affordable prices.

The state government is hoping to help shopkeepers after the fire disaster. So that shopkeepers, laborers and people working there can start their own business again. Another fire has been reported in the camp area in the last 15 days. Earlier, 25 shops were gutted in a fire at Shivaji Market.
