The border districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer still maintain close ties with neighboring Pakistan. Many family members live in Pakistan. Tensions between the two countries have risen since the Pulwama and airstrikes, which have affected these families.

The Thar Express, which connects these families in both the countries, also closed last year. This has affected the relationships of the people living on both sides and their intercourse has come to a standstill. Earlier, people from both the countries used to cross the border on wedding occasions and festivals. The two brides, who are coming to India on Women's Day, are coming with the hope that their condition will return to normal soon. After the efforts of the media and Union Minister Kailash Chaudhary, both the brides have been able to come to India.
