Tests in the United States and South America have found that the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine is 79 percent successful in preventing the characteristic Covid-19. None of the people involved in the study had a serious illness and no one was admitted to the hospital. The biotech firm, which manufactures the vaccine, made the claim on Monday based on the results of a new test. The vaccine is being developed by the Serum Institute in India.

The new test was conducted in the United States, Chile, Peru, etc. During the trial 32,000 people were given 2 doses of the vaccine at 4 weeks. It was 80 percent effective, especially in people over the age of 65. The good news is that Andrew Pollard, a professor at Oxford University who developed it, said the test was successful on a new population. He also hoped that it would encourage the use of vaccines and help eradicate Covid-19 from the world.
