The finance ministry has said that 17 states in the country have implemented one-country ration card system.

Uttarakhand has become the 17th state to implement the amendment. Under the system, ration card holders can buy foodgrains from shops in any of the states involved in the system. On the other hand, the government has offered additional loans to the states involved in the scheme.

The scheme will further benefit the migrant workers and their families who are mostly moving from one state to another for work. The Central Government has decided to increase the credit limit of the state which adopts the scheme to avail the benefits of the scheme.

The reforms will benefit millions of people in the country, especially those who find employment in the unorganized sector and move from one state to another.
