The birth rate of twins has increased in the world: 16 lakh twins are born every year!

Researchers study deliveries in 165 countries over four decades

Twins have one of the highest birth rates in history, with one in 42 twins.

London: Researchers have concluded that the birth rate of twins in the world is currently the highest in history. Currently, one in every 42 deliveries is a twin birth. This proportion is not limited to one country or one caste. The researchers studied babies born in 165 different countries from 1980 to the present. Based on this, it was learned that the delivery of twins is in full swing at present.

An average of 16 lakh twins are born every year in the world. In the 1980s, 9 out of every 1,000 deliveries were made in twins, which has now risen to 12. The study was published in the medical journal Human Reproduction.

There is no definite reason why twins are born more. But as far as Europe-America is concerned, researchers have concluded that the well-to-do class there is producing two children through fertility. It is not impossible to give birth to twins by in vitro fertilization (test tube baby) method. In addition, hormonal treatment can also give birth to twins. The highest growth rate of twins was found in North America at 71 percent.

It is followed by Europe at 60 per cent and Asia at 32 per cent. According to researchers, the birth rate of twins is currently the highest and will come down again over time. The current rate is the highest in the last 40-50 years. Researchers examined deliveries in 165 different countries, and found that twin births were elevated in 112 countries.
