The second part of the budget session of Parliament has started from today. Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha began as soon as the Opposition raised eyebrows over rising petrol-diesel prices. Due to this the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 11 p.m.

When the House resumed its proceedings at 11 a.m., the Congress came to Jeddah to discuss the issue of petrol-diesel prices, but the Deputy Speaker declined to comment. The Rajya Sabha was then adjourned till 1 p.m.

"Petrol, diesel and cylinder prices have skyrocketed in the last few days, leaving the poor in dire straits," the Opposition said in the House. This is a nationwide issue and the government should discuss it immediately. Congress leader Mallikarjun Khadge said the government should find a solution when the entire country is in crisis.

Congress MPs have proposed adjournment in the Rajya Sabha as well as in the Lok Sabha over rising petrol and diesel prices. Congress leader Mallikarjun Khadge has moved a motion in the Rajya Sabha and Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha seeking adjournment and a discussion on rising petrol and diesel prices.
