On the Ladakh border, China is still not far behind: US top military official

A top US military commander has made an explosive claim as the two countries' armies retreated on the Ladakh front as per a memorandum of understanding between India and China. Admiral Philip Davidson, stationed at the Pentagon, said China had not retreated much along the Ladakh border after clashes with Indian troops.

At the same time, he said, the US has helped India by providing India with a lot of useful information and clothing and other equipment for troops in cold areas.

Admiral Davidson, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, briefed members of the Senate that the Chinese military has not retreated from many of the areas it initially occupied after the confrontation. Cooperation with other countries is essential.

Earlier, India had maintained a neutral stance in the global arena, but the confrontation with China has made India realize that the consequences of cooperating with other countries are in India's interest. "America's maritime cooperation with India is also growing and I think India will strengthen its ties with the United States as well as Australia and Japan," he said.
