Countries around the world have become wary of China's regionalist activities. News of violence against Uighur Muslims in China's Xinjiang province is also angering various countries. US Secretary of State Anthony Blink recently warned China about the matter. However, not only Uighur Muslims, but also another peace-loving community called China Falun Gong has been the victim of violence. So much so that the Chinese government has completely banned the community, calling it a demonic religion.

What is Falun Gong

Believers in this community began in 1992. In fact it is a kind of meditation practice based on the very old Chinese culture qigong. It is said to sit upright and breathe in a special way and it is claimed to cure diseases of body and mind. It was started by the spiritual guru Lee Hoganji.

Popular in China

The Chinese embassy in Paris invited people who believe in this method so that Chinese living in France can learn it. The Chinese government itself has declared that this method of meditation has saved billions of rupees spent on government health.

Why did it become a threat to China's peace?

The Chinese government has no answer. The government has only argued that this religion is a threat to China. According to the government, it is a dangerous group of mediators who are inspired by foreign religions. According to state media, people in this community torture each other or themselves and have a high suicide rate. However, the government media could not provide any evidence and foreign agencies were not allowed to come forward to investigate. Human Rights Watch called the allegations nonsense. China is feared to be at risk from a growing number of believers in the community.

The beginning of torture

Because of this, the Chinese government started arresting people from this community and sending them to labor camps. Many were admitted to the insane asylum. In China, a special campaign was launched to bring about change in the people through reform through labor. In fact there was a new beginning of violence and atrocities in the name of change. People were kept hungry for several days, given electric shocks, and were not allowed to use the toilet after drinking too much water.

Signing of documents

People who were broken by this kind of harassment had to sign 5 documents. There was also an agreement to cut ties with all members of the community, from closing the meditation practice. Even then, the Chinese government kept an eye on them.

Peaceful protests in Beijing

After nearly three years of such repression, the Gong community staged a peaceful demonstration on April 25, 1999 at Beijing's historic Tiananmen Square, gathering 10,000 people. Government officials and police then arrived and began picking them up, taking them to Tianjin City, where they were released after being tortured.

This was just the beginning. That night, then-Chinese President Jiang Zemin declared the Gong community a threat to China's peace and the need to crush them.

Organs are removed from the body

According to a report, kidneys, livers and other organs have been removed from the bodies of people in the Gong community in China and are being sold on the black market. In the organ harvesting business in China, the organs of Uyghur Muslims are also removed along with the Gong community.
