Nepal approved the corona vaccine covacin made in India for emergency use on Friday. At the same time, Nepal has become the third country to accept India Biotech covacin. In a final phase trial on 26,000 people in India, covexin has been 81 percent successful. India and the African country of Zimbabwe have already approved the use of the vaccine.

The Nepal Drug Administration was informed that the Indian vaccine had been given conditional approval for emergency use. Nepal has so far received 2.3 million doses of AstraZeneca from India. Of that, 1 million doses were gifted by India to Nepal. China has also promised to supply 8 lakh doses of the corona vaccine to Nepal.

Nepal has given this approval at a time when its corona vaccine doses have run out and vaccination has had to be stopped. Jageshwar Gautam, a spokesman for Nepal's health department, said the vaccination campaign would remain closed until the vaccine was available.

Meanwhile, Bharat Biotech claimed that 40 countries have shown interest in its corona virus vaccine. Efforts are being made to get the vaccine approved in Brazil, the Philippines and Thailand. A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi administered the first dose of Corona vaccine to India Biotech at Aims Hospital. At the same time he punctuated the suspicions associated with covexin and hit several targets with one arrow.
