The Indian Army is going to make a new history this year. This year, the first batch of Indian women soldiers will join the Indian Army.

The decision to deploy women in the Army as soldiers and constables was taken in 2017. Then in December 2019, 101 women were selected for training. They are currently undergoing training at the Corps of Military Policy at Bangalore. The training started in January. A total of 61 weeks of training will be required for women.

At present, women officers are appointed to the posts in the Indian Army, which started in 1992. At that time, women could only work in the Army Counting Branch and as they got entry into the Army only through the Short Service Commission, they could only be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. .Now women have been enlisted in the army for the first time for the post of non-officer.

The Indian Army wants to recruit 1,700 women soldiers as military police by 2030. On the other hand, in 2019, the Army also announced a permanent commission for women officers. The decision will also enable women officers to reach the ranks of Colonel, Brigadier or General.
