Ease of Living Index: These are the best cities in the country to live in, find out the rest of the cities

Bengaluru is one of the largest cities in the country and Shimla is one of the smallest. This information is given in the 'Ease of Living' index released by the Government of India. It has a ranking of 111 cities.

In the Ease of Living Index released by the Government of India, Bengaluru tops the list of cities with a population of over one million. Pune is second and Ahmedabad is third in the list. The second list includes Bareilly, Dhanbad and Srinagar as cities with final footboards. In the Ease of Living Index 2020 prepared by the Ministry of Urban Development, Shimla tops the list of cities with a population of less than 1 million, followed by Muzaffarnagar in Bihar.

Criteria required to prepare the list

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure has emphasized on making Ease of Living better along with Ease of Doing Business. This list becomes very important in these circumstances. The government also prioritizes spending on urban development. The Ease of Living Index was first released in 2018. The list is based on 15 criteria such as government, identity and culture, education, health, security, economy, affordable housing, land planning, parks, transportation, water supply, waste management and environmental quality.
