After Trivendra Rawat, who will be the next CM of BJP in Uttarakhand? Find out who is in the race

New Delhi, 9 March 2021 Tuesday

The last three days of political turmoil in Uttarakhand have come to a halt this evening, with Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat handing over his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya.

Union Minister Anil Baluni, including Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has also become a contender for the top post in the state, though Pushpakar Dhami and the state's higher education minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat's name has also come up in the discussion.

Uttarakhand MP Anil Bull was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2018. He has been very active in the BJP and RSS for the last several decades. In the same way Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat is also loyal and trustworthy to the RSS, and Trivendra Rawat is also his first choice. His contribution in the field of education has been commendable.

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj has a good grip on politics. He joined the BJP from the Congress in 2009 and was a cabinet minister in the Trivandrum government. He was also a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post in 2017 when the BJP government was formed.

In the race for the Chief Minister's post, Haridwar MP and Union Minister Dr. Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, along with Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, is also in the running. Nishank has also been the Chief Minister of the state, while Bhatt has taken over the BJP state president's chair, and this is his first time reaching Parliament. It is to be mentioned here that the state assembly elections are to be held in the year 2022.
