A JPEG file sold for more than Rs 500 crore, creating a record

A digital file (JPEG file) of a picture of American artist Beeple has sold for Rs 503 crore. In fact this picture is a digital collage of different pictures. What is special is that no physical version of this collage is available.

The collage was auctioned off by British auction house Christie's. This collage is named 'Everydays: The First 5,000 Days'. The collage was made available online for about two weeks for auction.

The initial price of the collage was kept at around Rs 7,200. Currently, digital items are turned into unique items by blockchain technology and then sold at a higher price. Such digital assets are called Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT). Now Beeple's collage has become the most expensive NFT. A video of Beeple was also purchased at a higher price last month. The 10-second video sold for about Rs 48 crore.

A total of 5,000 photographs have been included in this collage of beeples. These pictures have been produced over the last 13 years. Bipal was making only one picture a day. The name of who bought this collage of beeples has been kept secret. Beeple has worked with pop star Justin Bieber, Katy Perry. He depicts life in the 21st century in his photographs. He has about 2 million followers on Instagram.
