The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has retaliated against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, who has sparked controversy by stating that tribals are not Hindus.

"Soren's statement is an attack on the faith and trust of the Vanvasi community and we condemn such an irresponsible statement," VHP leader Milind Parande said in an interview with a newspaper. The statement is tantamount to attacking the faith of the patriotic Vanvasi community. It seems that Soren has worked to promote Christian missionary as well as Naxalite activities by completely ignoring the contributions of the great men of the Vanvasi community who have contributed to the country and religion.

He said that the forest dwellers have been playing a role for the protection of Indian culture for centuries. There is an example of Rana Poonja Bhil who supported Maharani Pratap in the Ramayana period and fought against the Mughals. The tribal community of Jharkhand is showing great enthusiasm for the construction of the temple.
