Uprising fails in Haiti, arrests 24 people, including Supreme Court judge


Port Au Prince, Ta. Monday, February 8, 2021

A recent uprising in Myanmar has not yet dried up, with reports of uprisings in the Caribbean island of Haiti on Sunday. However the mutiny failed and 24 people, including a Supreme Court judge, were arrested.

These people wanted to overthrow President Juanel Moises. The uprising has sparked a serious political crisis in Haiti over the past few days. A senior police officer was also involved in the uprising. Weapons and cash were seized from the men, Prime Minister Joseph Jutt told a news conference at his private residence.

These people contacted the security officials of the National Palace and other high officials whose responsibility it was for the President to announce the name of the new President. The Law Minister and the Chief of Police were also present with them during the press conference.

"These people wanted to kill me," President Moise said at the annual carnival. These rebels wanted to overthrow my government. He further added that since November 20, these people have been plotting a coup. However he did not give further details.
