US social media company Twitter Inc. has approached the Union IT Ministry for a formal conversation. The government sent a list of some Twitter handles to Twitter and asked it to remove it with claims that it was involved in spreading inflammatory and misleading content on the peasant movement issue. According to a report from Twitter, he has approached the government for communication and the safety of his employees is of utmost importance to him. Twitter's response comes at a time when the government has asked for the removal of more than 1,000 accounts from Twitter.

A Twitter spokesperson said in a statement: "The safety of our employees is a top priority for us. We are in touch with the Government of India with full respect and have approached the esteemed Minister of Electronics and Information Technology for a formal conversation." The company further admitted that it had received a non-compliance notice from the government. The government asked Twitter to name 1,178 handles and remove them, according to official sources. The government called all those accounts the handles of Pakistan-backed and Khalistan supporters. It is learned that Twitter has not yet complied with the order.

A company spokesperson said in a recent statement: "We strongly believe that free exchange of notifications has a positive impact globally and that the flow of tweets should be maintained." The company says it takes appropriate action on such reports but at the same time ensures that its commitment to the protection of public discourse and fundamental principles is maintained.
