Truck transporters will go on strike not once but twice, 1 crore trucks will be shut down

- AIMTC will be away from CAIT's strike on February 26

New delhi date. Thursday, February 18, 2021

Amid skyrocketing prices of diesel, issues related to e-way bill and scrapping policy, the issue now seems to be splitting into two. On the one hand, The All India Motor Transporters Congress (AIMTC) had earlier given the government 14 days to take up its various demands and announced a nationwide strike. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) have announced a one-day shutdown on February 26. Thus two strikes are now being planned in which the first strike is certain to take place on 26th February while the second strike will take place a few days later in case the demands are not met.

AIMTC withdrew from the one-day strike

The AIMTC had announced a nationwide strike in case its demands were not met but it has clearly separated itself from the February 26 nationwide strike. AIMTC general secretary Naveen Kumar Gupta has termed the one-day strike on February 26 over the e-way bill issue as a decision of only a few. At the same time, he said, his 95 lakh trucks would continue to operate across the country on that day, supply and booking offices of all transport companies would remain open.

The wheels of 1 crore trucks will be stopped

CAIT general secretary Praveen Khandelwal said his demands were supported by the All India Transporters Welfare Association. More than 10 million transporters and courier companies in the country are members of the transport and the wheels of so many trucks will be braked on February 26.
