The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is working on an important plan to provide speedy treatment to the injured after a road accident. Technology is being developed that allows police and ambulances to receive information immediately after an accident on a national highway.

This system will be equipped with GPS system. The ministry is currently working on several new schemes to prevent road accidents. The ministry is working with engineering institutes like NIT and IIT across the country to prevent road accidents.

Emergency response mechanism for road safety is being worked on, said Giridhar Aram, secretary in the ministry. Connecting the ambulance, hospital and police control room together will provide immediate treatment to those injured in road accidents. It will also facilitate rescue operations. "Real-time information will be available as soon as an accident occurs," he said. Cashless treatment for road accident victims will begin soon. Talks are underway with the Ministry of Health in this regard.
