NTPC project estimated at Rs 1,500 crore due to floods, meets Union Energy Minister RK Singh

The floods in Chamoli, Uttarakhand have caused severe damage. Both life and property have been destroyed. Rescue operations are still underway by Army and NDRF teams. The flash floods caused by the glacier rupture have also caused extensive damage to the ambitious power project in Chamoli.

Then on Monday, Union Energy Minister RK Singh visited the Tapovan area. He reviewed the situation and the damage caused by the floods. He made it clear that the project would not be closed under any circumstances. The Rs 3,500 crore project has lost about Rs 1,500 crore.

The Union Minister also visited the worst affected areas and spoke to the affected people in the vicinity. He also assured them of all possible help. He has also communicated with the local administration to get information about the current situation.

He said the project was to be completed in the year 2023. The project was 80 percent complete. The incident has caused a loss of about Rs 1,500 crore. This project will not be closed under any circumstances, it will be restarted.
