New delhi date. 9 February 2021, Tuesday

Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday slammed Congress leader Adhir Ranjan for insulting Rabindranath Tagore. Amit Shah said the allegations of insulting Tagore against him were false and it was the mindset of the Congress party to make false allegations.

Referring to history, the Home Minister said that he was not sitting on Tagore's chair, but Jawaharlal Nehru was sitting on this chair. It may be mentioned that these allegations have been made against him by the Opposition regarding his visit to Santiniketan by Amit Shah. In particular, Congress leader Dhir Ranjan Chaudhary made remarks in the Lok Sabha.

The Home Minister clarified the allegation. Amit Shah also referred to the clarification given by the Vice Chancellor of Santiniketan and the pictures of his visit and said that he had never sat on the chair of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. He was sitting by the window where leaders including Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh were sitting.

At the same time, Amit Shah showed a picture of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi and claimed in the evening that the two leaders were sitting on Tagore's sofa. Not only Tulu but he also targeted Dhir Ranjan Chaudhary saying that it was inappropriate to discuss fake news on social media in the House.
