Narendra Modi may go to Kerala and Assam but not to meet farmers 20 km away: P Chidambaram

Criticizing the central government's stance on the farmers' movement, former finance minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday said that even in this time of recession, the Narendra Modi government is treating these farmers, who have given the agriculture sector a growth rate of 3.9 per cent, as if they are the enemies of the country. He tweeted, "In the year of recession, the reward of 3.9 per cent growth in the agricultural sector is being given to the protesting farmers as if they are the enemies of the country." In another tweet, he said, "Nevertheless, they claim that they have doubled the income of farmers." They also claim that all farmers are getting support prices. The fact is that only 6% of farmers get support prices.
