Lita Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar's tweets will be investigated, Uddhav government's decision

The Uddhav government has taken an important step in the wake of tweets from various celebrities associated with Bollywood and the sports world following a tweet in support of pop star Rihanna's peasant movement. The Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry into the tweets by all these celebrities. Several celebrities, including Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, tweeted after the External Affairs Ministry responded a few days ago. He also used the hashtags India Together and India Against Promotions in the tweets. It may be mentioned that Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar are honored with 'Bharat Ratna'.

The Maharashtra government has ordered the intelligence department to investigate the tweets. Such tweets were complained about by Congress and the pattern of most tweets was alleged to be one. State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has assured the Congress delegation that the Maharashtra Police's intelligence department would investigate the tweets of Indian celebrities and find out whether there was any pressure from the BJP for such tweets.

MNS president Raj Thackeray also attacked the government over the artists' tweets. Raj Thackeray said the Center should not have asked Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar to tweet in support of their stand and not put their reputation at stake. Now he has to face trolling in social media. He also said that the government should limit the use of actors like Akshay Kumar for its campaign.

What is the whole issue

In fact several foreign celebrities tweeted after pop star Rihanna tweeted in support of the peasant movement. The State Department then hastily issued a statement meaning that the facts should be investigated before commenting. The latter was tweeted by several celebrities throughout the day.
