Jeff Bezos to resign as Amazon CEO, Andy Jesse to take charge

Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos is set to resign. He will step down by the end of this year. Bezos has written a letter informing his staff of the decision. In a letter on Tuesday, he said he was stepping down as CEO of the company. He has been replaced by Andy Jesse as CEO.

Earned a lot last year

"I am excited to announce that I will be taking over the role of Executive Chairman of Amazon and Andy Jesse will be the new CEO of the company," Jeff Bezos wrote in the letter. Jesse is currently president of Amazon Web Services. Bezos made the announcement at a time when Amazon has released financial results for its fourth quarter ending December 31, 2020. The company has sold 100 100 billion in the last three months of 2020.

Excited about the new role

Jeff Bezos was launched as a startup of Amazon in 1995 and today is one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world. He further wrote in the letter that I will focus on new products with all my energy in this new role. I have full confidence in Andy Jesse that he will be an outstanding leader.

Jeff Bezos wrote in his letter that the journey began about 27 years ago. Amazon was just an idea and had no name. The most frequently asked question during that time was, What is the Internet? Today we employ 1.3 million talented, dedicated people. Serves hundreds of millions of customers and businesses and is widely recognized as one of the most successful companies in the world.
