The arrests began after the January 26 violence in Delhi. Iqbal Singh has also been arrested following the arrest of Deep Sidhu, the main culprit in the incident at Red Fort. A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for Iqbal Singh. Iqbal Singh is accused of inciting and harassing people at the Red Fort.

On January 26, some people hoisted religious flags at the Red Fort during a tractor parade in Delhi to protest against farmers' agricultural laws. The accused in the whole incident, Punjabi actor and former BJP leader Deep Sidhu, was arrested by the Delhi Police. Deep Sidhu had a prize of Rs one lakh and had been in hiding for several days. Not only that, his videos were also uploaded on Facebook from abroad.

The video of the incident at Red Fort came to light, in which Deep Sidhu was seen in the crowd with his supporters. He also defended himself on the issue of hoisting the religious flag and claimed to appear before the police in two days but did not do so. Deep Sidhu was eventually apprehended from the Karnal bypass following a police search.
