Will the Republic Parade take place in the absence of a foreign dignitary? This may be the first time since 1966

- The British Prime Minister is busy implementing the lockdown

New Delhi Dated 6th January 2021 Wednesday

No foreign dignitary will be the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade on January 26 this year.

However, the Indian government invited British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to attend the Republic Day parade as a special guest. The organizers of the ongoing peasant movement in Delhi had appealed to the British Prime Minister not to accept the invitation.

Yet Boris Johns said yes. In Britain, meanwhile, coronavirus vaccination was on the rise, while cases of new corona strains were on the rise. Fearing the situation would worsen, the British Prime Minister on Monday announced a strict lockdown in Britain for a month and a half.

When there was a strict lockdown and the situation seemed serious, the possibility of the British Prime Minister coming as a special guest in the Republic Day parade of India was automatically reduced. Under such circumstances, this year's Republic Day Parade was likely to be held in the absence of any foreign dignitaries.

However, this is not the first time this has happened. This has happened before in 1952, 1953 and 1966 when no foreign dignitaries were present at the Republic Day parade. However, in 1956, 1968 and 1974, dignitaries from both countries were present at the Republic Day Parade. This year, however, is still a good time, but suppose no foreign dignitaries arrive, it will be the first time since 1966 that a Republic Day parade will be held without the presence of a foreign dignitary.

In 2018, the heads of ten Asian countries were present as the chief guest in the Republic Day parade. For the first time since independence, so many chief guests were present at the Republic Day Parade.
