Jakarta, Dt

Indonesia has been hit by powerful earthquakes for the past two and a half decades. A previous earthquake in 2015 killed at least 200 people when a magnitude 7.5 earthquake shook the region and killed at least 300 people. A previous earthquake in 2004 killed at least 200,000 people when a magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook the region and killed at least 200,000 people. For the last two and a half decades, earthquakes of magnitude five to seven have been continuously striking.

The reason behind the earthquake in Indonesia is its geographical location. Indonesia is located at a place called the Specific Ring of Fire, where there is constant movement in the earth's crust. Because of this, Indonesia is most at risk from earthquakes and tsunamis. More than 20 million people in Indonesia are at risk of natural disasters.
