The US Senate will decide whether Trump can run for president again

Washington, January 14, 2020, Thursday

US President Donald Trump has become the first president in US history to be twice impeached.

The motion has now been moved in the lower house of the US House of Representatives against Trump, following attacks and violence by Trump supporters on Capitol Hill.

Now Trump's future is in the hands of the upper house of parliament, the US Senate. Opponents will need a two-thirds majority to convict Trump. It is doubtful. On the other hand, while Trump has hinted at contesting the 2024 election, the Senate may also vote on the grounds that Trump may not run in the future.

The Senate session is scheduled for January 20, and Biden will be sworn in as the new president of the United States on the same day.
