The U.S. Department of Defense has blacklisted a total of nine Chinese companies, including Xiaomi. The United States has said that these Chinese companies pose a threat to national security.

The US has blacklisted major Chinese companies in the mobile, aircraft and oil sectors. The US has blacklisted the world's third-largest smartphone maker, Chinese company Xiaomi, commercial aircraft corporate company Comec, oil company CNOOC, etc.

In this regard, US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said that these companies are a threat to US national security because of their nexus with the Chinese government. The move is aimed at protecting American citizens in the future.

China's foreign ministry, on the other hand, slammed the US move and threatened retaliation. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Xiao Lijian said that while the United States has repeatedly violated international trade laws, China could also take action against American companies.

Xiaomi has denied allegations of collusion with the Chinese government, saying the company has no control over the Chinese government. The company will represent the government for its interests.
