Tamil Nadu throws flaming cloth at elephants, condemns inhumane act

In the last few years, the beast in man has been seen coming out in different ways. Recently a burning cloth was placed on an elephant in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu without any prior provocation.

The elephant was badly burned and Ribai Ribai died. Tamil Nadu Forest Department officials said the elephant had entered a resort, probably because he was hungry. A burning cloth was placed over it to drive it out.

The incident took place in Masinagudi area of ​​Nilgiri district. Masinagudi is a hill station and has a number of tourist resorts. One such resort was entered by a jungle elephant. Earlier, people tried to scare him with torches to get him out. So the elephant was getting out of there. Even after seeing that he was leaving, a man put a burning cloth on him. The elephant was scorched and screamed in pain.

He was returning to the forest but his body was burnt. The fire was growing. Forest officials tried to save him with the help of a doctor but he could not be saved.

A video clip of the incident was posted on social media by the Forest Department which went viral. Police arrested two people believed to be involved in the incident. The incident happened on Friday, January 22, police said.

Such incidents have been on the rise for some time now. The acid was poured on a stray dog ​​in Bengaluru some time back and the acid throwers were laughing out loud when the dog was barking on the ground. This dog also killed Ribai Ribai.
