Supreme Court slaps Center: Stays against agricultural law, forms four-member committee

New delhi date. 12 January 2021, Tuesday

The Supreme Court has stayed the implementation of the three agricultural laws passed by the central government. The apex court handed down the verdict on Tuesday, setting up a four-member committee to resolve the dispute. This committee will study both sides (advantages and disadvantages) of agricultural law and report to the Supreme Court.

When a lawyer from MP Tiruchi Siva appealed for the law to be repealed, the Chief Justice said, "It was brought to our notice that the new agricultural law is being supported by the southern state." On which the lawyer said that in the south there are daily rallies against this law. The Chief Justice said we are ready to repeal the law. But not without a goal.

Harish Salve said that no major event should be held on January 26, on which the Chief Justice said that Dushyant Dave had already said that there would be no procession or rally. He also lamented the participation of Sikhs for Justice in the demonstration, saying that the organization has been demanding Khalistan.

The Chief Justice said that we have an application stating that the banned organization is assisting in this demonstration. If so, the central government should submit an affidavit by tomorrow. In reply, Attorney General Venugopal said, "We will also submit the affidavit and provide the IB record."
