Senior cancer specialist Dr V Shanta passes away, PM Modi sends condolences and applauds

Dr. V Shanta, the country's senior cancer specialist and chairman of the Adyar Cancer Institute, passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday morning, January 19.

Doctor Shanta was Padma Vibhushan. He was also awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award. Nobel laureate famous Indian scientist S Chandrasekhar was his mama and another Nobel laureate scientist CV Raman was the brother of Dr. Shanta's grandmother (younger). Thus Doctor Shanta came from a world famous family.

He complained of chest pains around noon on Monday night. She was immediately taken to a private nursing home. He breathed his last at 3.55 am on Tuesday morning, according to a Cancer Institute spokesperson. His terrestrial body was taken to the Old Cancer Institute for public viewing. This organization was created by him together with his guru Dr. Krishnamurthy.

Doctor Shanta was in a coma and was instructing assistants until he was taken to hospital. They have been upset for the last few days.
