Prominent doctors and medical professionals in Assam caught Rs 100 crore tax evasion

The CBDT said in a statement that some well-known doctors and people associated with the medical profession in Assam were caught with Rs 100 crore in tax evasion by the Income Tax Department.

A search operation was conducted on January 8 at 29 places in the state's major cities of Guwahati, Nalbari and Diburgarh and about Rs 7.54 crore in cash was seized from them, including Rs 1.76 crore seized from Nalbari. He did not elaborate on the amount seized from various hospitals and medical professionals.

Authorities found out that the hospital's massive transactions were concealed. The biggest allegation against the group was that they underestimated the amount they received in person and in the hospital.

The ovens he received in his nursing home, in the diagnostic center and in the drug business showed very little, 'the statement said. The undisclosed amount and cost in the search operation was more than Rs 100 crore.

During the search and seizure process, it was found that the group was operating illegally. Several documents and cash receipts were found from there which revealed that he had hidden a huge amount. His personal and hospital income was not even shown in the ledger. The group also hid their net profit.
