- New spark erupts in TRP scam

New Delhi / Mumbai Dated 25th January 2021 Monday

Arbab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, gave me 12 12,000 and Rs 40 lakh, 'Partho Dasgupta, the former head of Bark, admitted, according to Mumbai police.

The TRP scam has been raging across the country for some time now. Mumbai Police had alleged that various TV channels were carrying out scams to increase their viewership. In this too, Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Republic TV, who was blatantly criticizing the Mumbai police and the Maharashtra state government, was targeted by the Mumbai police.

Goswami had earlier been arrested and had been in jail for three days. Mumbai police were in a frenzy after details of a WhatsApp chat between Arnab Goswami and former BARC chief Partho Dasgupta were found. The chat revealed that Goswami and Dasgupta had discussed some of the top secrets of national interest.

Now the Mumbai police claimed that Dasgupta had given some information to Goswami in exchange for cash compensation. The police claimed that Dasgupta had told the Mumbai police that Arnab Goswami had given me US 12 12,000 and Rs 40 lakh as compensation for the information.

Mumbai Police had on January 11 filed a 3600-page chargesheet which also included details of the Bark forensic audit report. The former Bark chief claimed to the police that Arnab Goswami had given me હજાર 12,000 and Rs 40 lakh for providing some sensitive information. However, the Mumbai Police will have to prove this in court. If the police can prove this, it can be said that Arnab's career as a TV journalist will come to an end.

The chargesheet filed by the Mumbai police contained statements from a total of 59 people, including former BARC employees as well as cable operators. Bark's forensic audit report also included details of a scam perpetrated by various TV channels to increase TRP.

When details of the scandal first surfaced in November last year, Republic TV, Aaj Tak and Times Now were under suspicion. Republic TV later came to the center.
