Interpol's Red Corner Notice against Donald Trump and 47 other US officials

Washington, Jan. 6, 2021, Wednesday

A Red Corner Notice has been issued by Interpol against 48 officials, including US President Donald Trump.

Interpol usually issues such notices to international criminals such as Daoud Ibrahim, but Iran last year asked Interpol to issue a notice to US President Trump in connection with the assassination of its military officer Qasim Suleimani. This was followed by a war between the United States and Iran.

Iran has demanded the arrest of Trump and 47 other US officials. The request is being made because of their role in the assassination of General Suleimani. Iran is committed to punishing all of them.

General Suleimani, the head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a top military official, was assassinated near an airport in Baghdad in January last year. He was killed in a US drone strike.

Interpol has issued the notice at a time when Donald Trump's term as president is coming to an end on January 20. Some believe that the notice could cause trouble for him once his term as president expires.
