- Military uniforms are not considered appropriate in rallies or demonstrations
New Delhi Dated 20th January 2021 Wednesday
The Indian Army had instructed its retirees and officers not to wear military uniforms or wear medals at rallies or processions in the peasant movement.
For the last 56 days, thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been blocking the Delhi border. The so-called farmers were adamant that they would not move from here until the new agricultural laws framed by the central government were repealed.
At one point he even threatened to stage a tractor rally and a bike rally to disrupt the Republic Day parade. The farmers called on ex-servicemen and officers from Punjab and Haryana to boycott the Republic Day celebrations and join us in the rally.
The apex court had given full authority to the Delhi Police that the police could stop a tractor rally or a bike rally. Talks were underway between Delhi Police and farmer leaders today. The Delhi Police had set up a three-tier security arrangement to ensure that the traditional Republic Day parade was not disrupted. However, the peasant leaders are said to be confident that we will not disrupt the Republic Day parade.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army had instructed its ex-servicemen and veterans to join the Kisan Rally even if they wanted to, but not to wear military uniforms or medals. Military uniforms and medals have a different status. It remains the duty of every soldier and officer to maintain it. The peasant movement has nothing to do with the Indian Army. His movement is against the government. You have to maintain the sanctity of uniforms and medals.
The argument of some ex-jawans and officials going to Delhi is that if we are the son of a farmer, how can we stay away from this movement.
