Farmers stay up all night for fear of police action, squatting all night on Delhi border

- Tikait's allegation that the police cut off the power supply

New Delhi Dated 28th January 2021 Thursday

The so-called vandalism and violence in the name of tractor rallies on Republic Day kept farmers awake all night on Tuesday and Wednesday night for fear of police action.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait alleged that the police had cut off the power supply to our camp. Tikait accused the central government and Polly of trying to crush our movement.

Tikait also alleged that the administration had made the atmosphere ugly. Farmers were afraid that the police would take action at any time. The administration wants our movement to break down.

In response to a question, Tikait said that if the Delhi Police wanted to investigate and called us, we would definitely go to meet the police. Noting that some farmers' unions had called off the agitation, Tikait said the people had disappeared after police cut off power supply at the Ghazipur border.

"Our movement will continue," Tikait said. Legal action should be taken against those who happened at the Red Fort and those who did. We are not with him. The farmers chose another route as the police did not allow them to go on the route of the tractor rally.

Talking about farmer leader Bhim Singh quitting the agitation, Tikait said his decision was unfortunate.

In fact some peasant unions were leaving the movement after the Republic Day violence. The Indian Farmers' Union (Bhanu), which has been agitating on the Chilla border in particular, had announced an end to the agitation. The Mazdoor Kisan Union also announced its decision to secede from the movement. Police then removed the barricades from the Chilla border.
