New Delhi 7th January 2021 Thursday

Bird flu has caused an uproar across the country. Thousands of birds died from the infection.

Four lakh chickens from Jind district of Haryana alone go to the capital New Delhi every day. There were reports that the trade had stalled recently. In Delhi, chicken prices fell by Rs 15 per kg on Wednesday. Traders involved in poultry farms and chicken trade were reported to be losing Rs 20 lakh a day.

Jind district of Haryana is considered as the hub of poultry farms. Jind alone has more than 500 poultry and more than 80 hatcheries. Before bird flu, the price of chicken in Delhi was Rs 90 per kg. Seven crore 20 lakh rupees were traded daily.

The non-vegetarians of the country eat cooked chicken. Boiling at 70 degrees kills most of the virus bacteria. After that, there is no threat to health in chicken, say experienced traders and experts in the business. But as there are numerous poultry farms in Jind, poultry owners were scrambling to get concrete information about bird flu.

According to some doctors, the thousands of birds that have died recently have found no evidence of bird flu. The central government had declared the country bird flu free three months ago. Some experts say that the birds that died recently must have been the victims of extreme cold.

Animals should also be given adequate protection against extreme cold, otherwise they will die of suffocation. To date, not a single chicken has been diagnosed with bird flu. Some people deliberately spread rumors and mislead non-vegetarians. People need to be warned of such rumors.
