CBI nabs railway officer for taking Rs 1 crore bribe, arrests three

- He demanded a bribe from a private company in the name of getting a job in the railways

A senior railway official has been arrested by the CBI. An officer named Mahendra Singh Chauhan has been arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs one crore. Two other people have also been arrested along with him. One crore rupees has also been seized from them. Mahendra Singh, a 1985 batch officer, has been caught red-handed taking bribes.

According to CBI sources, this is a major incident of corruption in the railways these days. In which a senior officer has been arrested. The officer, Mahendra Singh Chauhan Namano, wanted a bribe in the name of getting a job in the Northern Eastern Frontier Railways.

More than 20 places have been raided by the CBI in five states. Arrested Mahendra Singh has taken bribe from a private company. The other two people arrested along with Mahendra Singh were taking bribes in Mahendra Singh's name. The CBI had received a tip-off that a railway official named Mahendra Singh was taking bribes in the name of hiring. The trap was then set by the CBI and the accused have been caught red handed.

CBI officials suspect that he has taken bribes from others before. So he has started investigating in that direction.
