New Delhi 27th January 2021 Wednesday

The Delhi Police was investigating on CCTV to identify the rioters involved in the violence and arson perpetrated by so-called farmers in Delhi under the pretext of holding a tractor rally on Republic Day.

At the tractor rally, Punjabis on horseback appeared with swords and iron rods and resorted to violence. The rioters carried out violence in eight to nine different places as planned in advance. In one place, an attempt was made to crush the police under a tractor, while in another place, a woman policeman was beaten. At one point an attempt was made to attack the police with a sword. The rioters insulted and vandalized the Indian national flag by infiltrating the historic Red Fort. Elsewhere, the barricade was smashed by a speeding tractor, and police were pelted with stones and iron rods. At another place, Delhi Transport Corporation buses were attacked and the windows of the buses were smashed and seats were torn in some of the buses.

The whole scene was as if violent riots had been planned in advance. The rioters were armed with various weapons. The peasant leaders verbally assured that the tractor rally would be peaceful so the police had no weapons except sticks. Violent rioters took advantage of this and carried out frequent attacks on the police. As the atmosphere became tense, the local administration shut down internet and SMS services. Now the police were busy trying to identify the attackers through the CCTV set up. It can be said that this was a storm that was meant to make India look weak on Republic Day all over the world.
