An official close to PM Modi said that if Sharma joins the BJP, he may contest the MLC elections

Former Gujarat cadre IAS officer Arvind Kumar Sharma has decided to make a fresh start in the political arena. There is talk in the political arena that Arvind Kumar Sharma could be fielded by the BJP in the Assembly elections. There is also speculation that he may hold a key position in government after winning the election. Arvind Kumar Sharma has been one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's most trusted officials. Arvind Kumar Sharma, a resident of Mau district in UP, had a retirement year of 2022, but he surprised everyone by suddenly retiring voluntarily.

Former Gujarat cadre IAS officer Arvind Kumar Sharma, who took voluntary retirement from the administrative service, has joined the BJP. BJP state secretary and spokesperson Chandramohan said former IAS officer Arvind Kumar Sharma had joined the party on Thursday. Voting for the 12th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council seat is scheduled for January 28 and the last date for filing nomination papers is January 18. The BJP has not yet announced its candidate. There, the Samajwadi Party announced its two candidates on Wednesday.

Arvind Kumar Sharma is a 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer. Sharma has held some important positions in Gujarat from 2001 to 2013. When PM Modi came to Delhi after the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Arvind Sharma also came with him. He is currently the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office.
