US blacklists dozens of Chinese companies, including top chip makers and drone makers

The United States has blacklisted some Chinese companies, blocking trade with them. Such companies include top chip maker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and drone maker HZ DJI Technology Limited.

Outgoing President Donald Trump is believed to have hit China's trade hard as he left. The U.S. Department of Commerce confirmed the news on Friday that the decision to blacklist DJIs. However, no response was received from the DJI in this direction.

The Commerce Department also said that the companies were involved in espionage in collaboration with the Chinese military.

"We will not cooperate with China in the manufacture of any product that could harm US industries," said US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Rose.
