A complaint was lodged with the Mumbai Police alleging fraud of Rs 2.5 crore with the mother of the country's Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Muktabai Bobde.

Muktabai owns a party plot called Seeden Lone near Akashwani Square in Nagpur. He hired a Tapas Ghosh as the caretaker of the party plot in 2007. Tapas was paid a commission for every booking in addition to his salary.

Seeing Muktabai's age and deteriorating health, Tapas and his wife started a financial mess. According to police, Tapas recovered bogus receipts from a number of parties but did not pay Muktabai. Eventually Muktabai lodged a police complaint.

Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told media that the police was investigating under the leadership of DCP Vinita Sahu. The scam came to light after some parties canceled their bookings but did not get a refund of the money they had paid. In August this year, Muktabai lodged a police complaint.

Police arrested Tapas Ghosh. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that when the police checked all the booking records since 2017, they came to know that Tapas had embezzled Rs 2.5 crore. Further investigation was ongoing.
